There’s so much to do in New Mexico! If you are able to make a trip of it, here are some suggestions for other places to check out.
We hope you’ll take the opportunity to explore Albuquerque! Albuquerque’s public transportation leaves something to be desired, so if you’re hoping to explore, you may want to rent a bike or car (or plan on taking a bunch of Ubers). That said, if you’re just planning to enjoy wedding festivities, no rental-car needed—there’s a shuttle from the airport to Los Poblanos, and we’ll provide transportation to the rehearsal dinner.
There are a lot of things to do at Los Poblanos, including a pool, spa, and farm. Check out their website for more info!
The Albuquerque Sunport is about a ten-minute drive from Los Poblanos. Los Poblanos has a shuttle that takes people to and from the airport, but you need to coordinate with them in advance. If the shuttle doesn’t end up working out for you, we can help coordinate rides between guests. Uber or taxis would also be an option.
Bike (or walk, or run) along the Bosque Trail. Hike in the Sandias. Take a soak at Betty’s spa.
Waffles at Tia B’s. Tacos at Zacatecas. New Mexican food at El Patio (Andrew recommends the chile relleno). All sorts of options at Green Jeans Food Hall. Breakfast at The Farmacy. Coffee and pastries at Zendo. Cubanos and arepas at Guava Tree.
Beer at Marble Downtown Taproom, Boese Brothers, Bosque Brewing Co., or Bow and Arrow. Cocktails at Still Spirits or on the roof of Hotel Chaco.
Santa Fe is about an hour from Albuquerque by car, or an hour and a half by train. There’s a lot of great art, architecture, and food to explore! You can do it in a day, but for the full experience, we recommend staying the night. (Sante Fe can be quite expensive; one good option for a place to stay is the El Sendero Inn, which is pretty affordable, quite comfortable, and centrally located!)
Walk around the plaza. Pop in and out of galleries along Canyon Road. Visit another dimension at Meow Wolf. Soak in some culture at the Georgia O’Keefe Museum. Get in touch with your inner zen at Ten Thousand Waves.
Nachos and margaritas at the Rooftop Cantina at Coyota Cafe. Chocolate exlicars at Kakawa Chocolate House. French breakfast at Clafoutis. Pastries at Sage Bakehouse. New Mexican food at Tomasita’s.
There are lots of beautiful spots to camp, hike, and sight see around New Mexico, if you’re willing to drive a bit! Don’t hesitate to reach out for additional recommendations if you’re planning something.
Andrew recommends: Gila National Forest, Sangre de Cristo Mountains, Jemez Springs
Most famous for being the home of Georgia O’Keefe, Abiquiu is a landscape like no other. Ghost Ranch—the former home and studio of Georgia O’Keefe—has a museum and programming.
Lots of hiking, mountain biking, natural hot springs, and great places to camp! Check out Taos Mesa Brewing Mothership for great beer and even better vibes, and don’t miss ice cream at Taos Cow.
